MD, PhD Sylwia Miętkiewicz is a specialist in epidemiology with two doctorates, in medical sciences and health sciences. Her work focuses on infection prevention, hospital infection control and patient safety in the surgical setting.
She is affiliated with the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań as an academic teacher and researcher (Post Doctoral Researcher). She gained clinical and organisational experience at the University Clinical Hospital in Poznań, where she helped implement standards for safe vascular access, prevention of healthcare-associated infections and standardisation of medical procedures.
A particular focus of her work is ultrasound-assisted vascular cannulation and modern vascular-access systems – procedures that directly reduce infectious complications in hospitalised patients. She conducts training sessions and workshops for medical staff on safe vascular access, reducing infection risk and modern standards of perioperative care.
Author and co-author of scientific publications on clinical epidemiology and patient safety, active in the international scientific community.
