Dr. Michał Górecki is a specialist in orthopedics and musculoskeletal traumatology and a hand surgeon associated with the Department and Clinic of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Hand Surgery at the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań. His practice focuses on surgery of upper-limb nerves, reconstructive microsurgery, and treatment of complex hand injuries and conditions.
His main work includes surgery of the hand and upper-limb nerves, including reconstruction of the median and ulnar nerves, treatment of brachial-plexus injuries, tendon and ligament surgery, and treatment of congenital upper-limb defects in children. He also performs shoulder, elbow, and wrist arthroscopy and treats overuse and degenerative conditions of the upper limb. When planning reconstructive treatment, he places particular importance on tissue-healing biology and individual selection of the surgical technique.
Graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań and multiple recipient of the Rector's scholarship at UMP. He gains clinical and scientific experience at the Wiktor Dega Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital in Poznań, treating patients requiring both elective reconstructive procedures and treatment of complex upper-limb injuries.
He specializes in upper-limb nerve surgery at a level represented in Poland by only a small group of surgeons: reconstruction of the median and ulnar nerves, treatment of brachial-plexus injuries, and the RETS (reverse end-to-side) technique, used when standard methods of restoring nerve function are insufficient. He developed his microsurgical skills at advanced cadaver courses in Bristol and London through the Global Nerve Foundation.
Author of scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals, including papers on peripheral-nerve reconstruction of the upper limb and treatment of congenital defects using bone-distraction techniques, published among others in Injury and European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology. An active speaker at national and international conferences, he has presented at the FESSH Congress in Rimini (2023) and the Congress of the Polish Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Warsaw (2022).
Member of the Polish Society for Surgery of the Hand, FESSH, and Global Nerve Foundation. He completed training in nerve microsurgery, among other places, at the Esser Masterclass in Bristol and the IFSSH clinical session in London (2022). He actively teaches, leading workshops on microsurgery, tendon suturing, and reconstructive techniques of the upper limb as part of the Summer School of Hand Surgery.
He has been part of the Halluxmed team since 2026. His presence at the hospital expands upper-limb treatment to include advanced nerve surgery and reconstructive microsurgery.
