MD, PhD Wojciech Łabędź is a specialist in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal traumatology whose practice focuses on spine surgery. He also works as a senior assistant at the Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital of the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań.
He performs surgical treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine conditions through posterior and anterior approaches, including degenerative disease, disc disease and spinal tumours. He performs endoscopic surgery for lumbar disc herniation, including the biportal UBE technique, through two small incisions and without the need for general anaesthesia with intubation, allowing surgery also in patients with significant medical comorbidities.
For spinal pain, he uses neurolysis, thermolysis, cryolysis, DISCOGEL, nerve blocks and ozone therapy. For percutaneous treatment of osteoporotic and tumour-related fractures, he performs kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty and screw fixation reinforced with bone cement. These procedures are performed without opening the spinal canal, which shortens recovery.
He graduated from the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań. In March 2021, the Council of the College of Medical Sciences at the university awarded him a doctoral degree in medical and health sciences for research on the clinical value of minimally invasive surgical techniques in patients with metastatic tumours and multiple myeloma of the spine.
He regularly participates in scientific conferences, courses and training in Poland and abroad, particularly in spine surgery and minimally invasive pain treatment.
