| I had bunion and hammertoe surgery nine months ago. I thought about it for a long time—five years—but my feet hurt and the deformity became increasingly visible. My shoes were pushed out by the protruding bunions, which caused corns and blisters; the hammertoes caused the same problems. The pain made walking impossible, and gel pads that slipped while walking did not help.
