Bunion treatment for Wrocław – effective diagnostics and modern treatment methods
Looking for effective bunion treatment in or near Wrocław? At Halluxmed, we specialise in diagnosing and treating foot deformities, including hallux valgus, commonly known as bunions. We also welcome patients from Wrocław and Lower Silesia who seek specialist advice, an individual approach and modern treatment methods.
Bunions can be more than a cosmetic concern: they can cause pain, difficulty walking, reduced activity and problems finding suitable shoes. Symptoms can worsen as the deformity progresses, so it is advisable to consult a specialist early and choose a treatment suited to the severity of the condition.
Specialist bunion treatment for patients from Wrocław
Patients from Wrocław who visit Halluxmed can expect a comprehensive assessment. During the consultation, the doctor assesses the degree of deformity, the symptoms and the impact of bunions on everyday life.
This provides the basis for planning the next steps. Depending on the patient's individual circumstances, treatment may involve non-surgical methods or surgery.
The key is to tailor treatment to each individual case. Not every bunion requires surgery, while treating symptoms alone may be insufficient for more advanced deformities.
Bunion surgery – when should you consider it?
Bunion surgery may be indicated particularly when the deformity causes pain, makes walking difficult, limits activity or significantly reduces quality of life.
The decision to operate follows a consultation and thorough diagnostic assessment. The doctor selects the surgical technique individually, taking into account factors such as the type and severity of the foot deformity.
Treatment aims not only to improve the appearance of the foot, but above all to restore proper function and relieve symptoms.
Bunions in Wrocław – when should you see a specialist?
Consider a consultation particularly if:
- you develop pain around the big toe,
- the deformity is gradually increasing,
- you have trouble finding shoes that fit,
- you develop chafing and skin irritation,
- walking or standing for longer periods causes discomfort,
- the bunion limits your physical activity,
- previous non-surgical treatments have not helped.
The earlier the foot is assessed, the easier it is to choose appropriate treatment and limit further progression of the deformity.

Bunions also known as Hallux valgus is a foot deformity in which the big toe deviates sideways towards the other toes and the first metatarsal bone moves inwards, accompanied by widening and distortion of the big toe's metatarsophalangeal joint
Hallux valgus affects 2–4% of the population
The first symptoms often appear before the age of 20
In more than 70% of cases, bunions affect both feet, although not always at the same time
Bunions – what are they and what causes them?
Hallux valgus, commonly known as a bunion, is a foot deformity in which the big toe deviates sideways towards the other toes and the first metatarsal bone moves inwards, accompanied by widening and distortion of the big toe's metatarsophalangeal joint. Initially, these changes progress almost painlessly, with occasional episodes of pain. Over time, chronic local inflammation develops and pain becomes more frequent and severe. If the deformity progresses and pain increases, the only effective treatment for bunions is surgery.
Bunions – causes and treatment options
Factors that can contribute to foot deformities include sex, tibialis posterior muscle dysfunction, flat feet, rheumatic diseases, a tight Achilles tendon and unsuitable footwear. Contrary to popular belief, unsuitable footwear is not the most common cause of bunions: genetic factors are. These are estimated to be involved in 58–88% of patients, with bunions inherited mainly through the maternal line.
There is no single universal method for treating bunions. Every patient is examined thoroughly before bunion surgery.
For minimal foot deformity and mild pain, we recommend non-surgical bunion treatment, including appropriate footwear or orthotic insoles, corrective devices, medication or physiotherapy.
